PC Magazine featured an online article on the genetic basis for malware presented at the 7th International Conference on Malicious and Unwanted Software (Malware 2012), including a presentation by Dr. Avi Pfeffer of Charles River Analytics. The article, Is It Malware? Check Its Genes, discusses Dr. Pfeffer’s presentation of MAAGI, Charles River’s tool for Malware Analysis and Attribution Using Genetic Information. MAAGI uses an evolutionary model to automatically analyze malware, reducing the time and costs to detect and combat new cyber threats. It was developed as part of the Cyber Genome project for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). To learn more, read about MAAGI.
