Charles River Analytics Inc., developer of intelligent systems solutions, recently released our Virtuoso Software Development Kit (VSDK). VSDK is a Unity-based extended reality (XR) SDK that lets developers quickly and consistently build XR experiences.

Virtuoso SDK

Unity-based software development kit (SDK) for rapid Extended Reality (XR) simulation development, open-source and available for download on GitHub

Historically, developing for XR is explicably specialized, time-consuming, and expensive, requiring the dedicated development of custom assets, scenarios, and interaction methods by niche development talent. These issues are exacerbated by the landscape of new input devices and systems coming on the market, which require developers to redo time-consuming work to design and develop interaction systems for each new device.

Our VSDK provides both novice and seasoned developers the tools and systems they need to integrate a wide variety of XR devices and peripherals (hardware interoperability), support naturalistic user interactions, and implement time- and event-driven behavior into their experiences. Originally funded by the US Army to develop virtual-reality training for combat medics, VSDK can be used to rapidly prototype and deploy any immersive XR experience, ranging from games, to training simulations, to experimental research trials.
