Meet scientists from Charles River Analytics, developer of intelligent systems solutions, at the Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS)! MHSRS is the only symposium focuses specifically on the unique medical needs of the Warfighter, and takes place at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL, from August 20 to 23, 2018. We are returning to MHSRS to present our recent developments in healthcare support and training.
MHSRS provides a scholarly forum for the development of future studies to optimize care for Warfighters. Held in a collaborative, joint setting, the MHSRS enables military medical care providers with combat experience to exchange information with the Department of Defense, as well as academic scientists and international partners on research and health care initiatives. These initiatives address a plethora of topic areas, such as Combat Casualty Care, Military Operational Medicine, Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine, and Military Infectious Disease. MHSRS aims to foster research and communication among the military and researchers, and offers solutions for service-specific medical needs.
MEDIC
Dr. Bethany Bracken will present the “Development and refinement of a portable, durable, rugged functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) device.” The MEDIC system is designed to help assist military trainers by automatically sensing indicators of cognitive workload to augment performance observations, offering insight into factors underlying that performance.
STAT
Mr. Benjamin Bauchwitz will present Development of Screen-based Simulation Content for Training and Assessing Trauma Nursing Proficiency. Charles River is developing a System for Trauma Assessment Training (STAT) with Professor Frank Ritter of The Pennsylvania State University. STAT is a computer and tablet-based training system that presents a virtual patient in multiple trauma scenarios for efficient and effective learning, rehearsal, and assessment.

CAPTURE
Ms. Stephanie Kane will present Context-aware Hands-free Multimodal Interfaces for Medical Information Documentation. Charles River is developing interfaces to support the capture of streamlined medical information. These interfaces enable providers to flexibly capture data across multimodal interfaces, providing real-time prompting or semi-automated data capture support.

About MHSRS: The MHSRS is the Department of Defense’s premier, annual scientific meeting, which draws approximately 2,900 attendees. It is a venue to communicate and discuss new scientific knowledge resulting from military-unique research and development. It is the only military or civilian meeting that focuses specifically on the unique medical needs of the Warfighter.
