Charles River Analytics Inc., developer of intelligent systems, successfully tested its bicycling safety technology during demonstrations in Las Vegas from December 12-15, 2017.
Under a US Department of Transportation-funded contract, Charles River Analytics developed a system, called MAIN-ST, to improve bicycle safety and improve transportation efficiency. Charles River partnered with the City of Las Vegas to demonstrate connectivity between the bicycles and connected infrastructure while riding bicycles in Las Vegas. The team also tested hazard detection and alerting capabilities of the MAIN-ST system.
“The Las Vegas test event was our first opportunity to deploy our technology in a live connected urban environment,” said Dr. Michael Jenkins, Senior Scientist at Charles River. “Being able to test and fine tune our software in the type of real world environment it will eventually be used in provided us with invaluable data and feedback to enhance our system’s performance and resiliency.”
