Charles River Analytics Sponsors NECHFES

Charles River Analytics sponsored the New England Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society’s (NECHFES) 4th Annual Student Research Conference that took place on November 9, 2007 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Dick Pew, former president of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society (HFES), presented the keynote address. Students from area universities, including the University of New Hampshire, the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Northeastern University, MIT and Bentley College, presented their research.

Charles River Senior Scientists, Dr. Ryan Kilgore and Dr. Alexander Feinman, and Scientist, Michael Farry, attended the conference. Dr. Kilgore delivered a presentation on Charles River and its projects.

Charles River Analytics co-sponsored the event along with Aptima, Inc. and CellExchange; the event was also supported by the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety. The three sponsors were invited to select three best student papers. These went to: Alexander Shyrokov of the University of New Hampshire for his paper, “Research in Multi-threaded Spoken Dialogues in Hands-busy and Eyes-busy Environments,” written with Andrew Kun and Peter Heeman; Alicia Kurowski of UMass Lowell for her paper, “Changes in Manual Lifting among Nursing Assistants after the Introduction of a No-lift Program in Nursing Homes,” written with J. Boyer, Scott Fulmer, and L. Punnett; and Allan Fong of MIT for his paper, “A Human Factors Study of Operating Room Accidents Involving the Misplacement and Retention of Foreign Objects.”
