Charles River Analytics, a developer of intelligent systems solutions, presented its mission planning optimization algorithm for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO) that took place from July 12-16, 2011, in Dublin, Ireland. At the conference, presenters shared the latest research and information in genetic and evolutionary computation.
Charles River’s Mr. Daniel Stouch, Principal Software Engineer, shared how Charles River is developing a tool that generates coordinated mission plans for constellations of UAVs. SPARTEN (Spatially Produced Airspace Routes from Tactical Evolved Networks) allows mission planners to specify which objectives are important to them for each mission. Mr. Stouch also shared the overall approach of applying multi-objective evolutionary algorithms to the air mission planning domain, focusing on visualization components.
