Charles River Analytics, a developer of intelligent system solutions, presents a case study on using probabilistic programming to develop advanced machine learning systems. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded Charles River a broad agency announcement contract as part of its Probabilistic Programming for Advancing Machine Learning (PPAML) program. Under the PPAML effort, Charles River is developing a probabilistic programming language to simplify machine learning, a branch of artificial intelligence that focuses on computer systems that increase their knowledge and improve their behavior based on experience and accumulated data about the world.
