Charles River Analytics, a developer of intelligent systems solutions, celebrated a belated holiday party at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, MA. During the party, staff and guests were able to celebrate the successes of the past year and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed setting in the heart of Boston’s Beacon Hill area.
“We had another great year this year, so we have much to celebrate,” said Dr. Scott Neal Reilly, Vice President, Decision Management Systems. “We continue to grow, and we continue to take on some really important and challenging problems for our customers. As a few examples, we received a new contract to help develop mannequin-based training systems for field medics learning how to apply novel tourniquet devices, we received a contract to develop probabilistic models of computer networks and adversary attackers, and we received a contract to help detect hard-to-find inconsistencies in large-scale data bases. We also recently received word that Charles River is one of seven companies—and the only small business—that have been chosen to help modernize the Air Force’s command and control infrastructure under the $250M C2AD program.”
Charles River’s employees themselves had a particular reason to celebrate. At the end of 2012, Charles River became a 100% employee-owned company, through the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and associated trust. The plan provides ownership to all eligible employees, recognizing teamwork that leads to the company’s success, and rewarding individuals in that success.
During the evening, Charles River’s staff and guests visited various tasting stations in the Rotunda, including Asian, Mediterranean, Italian, and a seafood bar, and a dessert station in the Esplanade. Before extensive renovations converting it to a luxury hotel, the Liberty Hotel was known as Boston’s famed Charles Street Jail so guests were able to observe the vestiges of jail cells and the hotel’s storied history in the lobby. For entertainment, guests could enter a photo booth to take photos and bring home souvenirs of the evening.
Dr. Greg Zacharias, President of Charles River, said: “I want to thank everyone for another terrific year. Our success is due to your talent, commitment, and teamwork. With Charles River recently becoming 100% employee-owned, I’m looking forward to seeing you all shape the future of the company with your innovative ideas and dedication to the customer.”
