Charles River Analytics Announces New Vice President, Decision Management Systems

Ms. Karen Harper, Senior Vice President of Government Services, announced the promotion of Dr. Scott Neal Reilly to Vice President, Decision Management Systems. Charles River’s Decision Management Systems division applies a wide range of computational solutions to help people make better decisions.

“Scott brings an impressive set of skills to this position, developed through more than a decade of executing and managing technology innovation,” Harper said. “He has tremendous technical as well as management and mentoring skills, which are further augmented by his fundamental enthusiasm for the work and the people of Charles River.”

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity,” Neal Reilly replied. “The Decision Management Systems division has a tremendous staff of scientists and software engineers that are doing pioneering work in a wide variety of areas, including evolutionary algorithms, market-based optimization, information fusion, argumentation systems, data visualization, and agent-based systems. In addition, Charles River has innovative work going on in their Cognitive Systems and Sensor Processing and Networking divisions, and I look forward to collaborating with them on a variety of projects.”

Neal Reilly was promoted from his former position as Principal Scientist, where he was responsible for running programs focused on creating tools to help model human behavior for training and analysis applications. He has done this work for customers such as the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and the Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC).

Neal Reilly’s primary research interest is in building intelligent agents for dynamic, real-time environments. This has led him to work in areas such as real-time agent architectures, emotion modeling, affective decision making, social-behavior modeling, believable agents, intelligent behavior execution, embedded conversational systems, plan recognition, believable animation, hybrid agent architectures, speech morphing, and interactive scene and narrative management. He is also interested in developing tools to make it easier to build and understand complex, agent-based systems.

Before joining Charles River Analytics, Neal Reilly was the Vice President of Product Development and Co-Founder of Zoesis Studios, an interactive animation studio that built “living” characters for computer-based entertainment, education, and advertising applications. Neal Reilly earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Duke University.
