US Air Force Enlists Charles River Analytics to Build Cyber Defense Toolkit to Help Uphold Current Cyber Security Efforts

Charles River Analytics, developer of intelligent systems solutions, has announced a contract awarded by the US Air Force to build a cyber defense toolkit that will provide high-fidelity assessments of software services designed to help uphold current cyber security efforts. METRICS, or Managing Evaluation and Testing for Red Team Investigations of Cyber Security, is a two-year follow-on contract valued at over $500,000.

“METRICS provides intuitive tools for developing cyber-defense performance measures in test environments,” said Sean Guarino, Principal Scientist at Charles River and Principal Investigator on the METRICS effort. “It enables the development of better cyber defense tools and performance assessments in training exercises.”

METRICS includes four components: a library for real-time assessment and identification of security failures; authoring tools to develop and collect customizable metrics; a visualization framework to review the results of analysis, and the capability to identify requirements for non-invasive data collection.

METRICS is built on AgentWorks™, Charles River’s application to graphically design, build, and test complex intelligent systems.
