The Missile Defense Agency awarded a follow-on contract to Charles River Analytics. For this project, Charles River will design, develop, and evaluate methods for Meta-Information Visualization and Processing (MVP II) for Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Command and Control (C2) in a contract that extends to June, 2009.
“Systems that visualize the battlespace for ballistic missile defense command and control do not always explicitly consider the role that qualifiers of information, such as uncertainty, importance, and staleness, play in the work domain,” explained Mike Farry, Scientist II at Charles River Analytics. “In our work on MVP II, we hope to leverage our recent and ongoing research into methods for meta-information visualization to create a system that effectively presents qualified information to the user to improve their decision-making performance.”
Dr. Jonathan Pfautz, Vice President of Charles River’s Cognitive Systems Division, said, “The work performed under MVP II has the potential to dramatically increase the ability of BMD C2 personnel to reason effectively and quickly about large amount of time-critical, dynamic, and complex information.”
