Representatives from Charles River Analytics, a developer of intelligent systems solutions, recently was awarded a contract to design and implement the navigation and analysis software for an underwater robotic system in partnership with QinetiQ North America (QNA). Charles River’s role is to create the core software components that provide path planning, object detection, and obstacle avoidance capabilities for this autonomous robot. The work is supported by the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
This project is an ideal collaboration for QNA and Charles River, building on both QNA’s highly innovative robot hardware and Charles River’s proven image analysis software. The robot uses VisionKit for image analysis and classification. VisionKit is Charles River’s library of vision components, which allows developers to rapidly prototype image analysis systems using advanced computer vision technology.
