Dr. Bethany Bracken, Senior Scientist at from Charles River Analytics Inc., will chair a special session on assessing human cognitive state at BIOSTEC 2018, the 11th International Joint Conference on Biomedical Engineering Systems and Technologies. Five co-located conferences are part of BIOSTEC, bringing together researchers and practitioners in biology and medicine. BIOSTEC 2018 will take place from January 19-21, in Funchal, Portugal.
Dr. Bracken organized and will chair the session, Assessing Human Cognitive State in Real-World Environments. Topics include:
- Using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to assess cognitive performance of UAV sensor operators
- Using fNIRS for evaluation of mental workload and training
- Measuring immersion in experiences with biosensors
Dr. Bracken will also discuss Charles River’s unobtrusive system to Monitor, Extract, and Decode Indicators of Cognitive Workload (MEDIC) in real-world environments. Charles River and its partner, PLUX, recently announced the release of an fNIRS device that measures brain blood oxygenation and cardiac information.
