AnyLogic Demonstrates Simulation with Bayesian Networks Using BNet.EngineKit™ Pre-Release Testing of BNet.EngineKit Shows Promise for Handling Uncertainty in Simulation and Modeling

XJ Technologies and Charles River Analytics announced today a demonstration of BNet.EngineKit, a developer toolkit for implementing Bayesian belief networks, in simulation tool AnyLogic. This advance provides analysts in industries ranging from manufacturing and transportation to healthcare and telecom, and in applications including logistics, strategic planning and risk/benefit analysis the ability to handle uncertainty in their models and simulations.

The need for Bayesian networks in simulation and modeling has been building. Andrei Borshchev, CEO of XJ Technologies, said “A number of our clients have been asking us to include belief networks in AnyLogic. We are pleased that BNet.EngineKit will make it simple and easy for them to do that.”

Sergey Suslov, the engineer at XJ Technologies responsible for integrating BNet.EngineKit into AnyLogic noted how quickly he was able to implement the developer toolkit and start using Bayesian networks in AnyLogic simulations. “It was very easy,” said Suslov, “Our customers can use some very simple code to take advantage of belief networks. Engine Kit is good.” Borshchev agreed, noting, “Using BNet.EngineKit as a part of AnyLogic is not complicated and fits well with overall AnyLogic modeling technology. It is describable in a one page instruction sheet.”

BNet.EngineKit will be available for sale in mid-2005. Customers who pre-purchase a copy will be able to receive advanced copies of Beta versions.
