Charles River Analytics was awarded $1.6M in additional funding from the US Navy to develop Adaptive Perception Behaviors (APB). APB embeds intelligent behavior optimization into a maritime smart camera with a pan-tilt mount to create an autonomous camera system that can detect, classify, and track ships, as well as determine if inspection is necessary to ensure safe navigation.
“APB provides marine surface situational awareness in a single platform,” said Ross Eaton, Principal Scientist at Charles River Analytics and a Director within our Sensing, Perception, and Applied Robotics division. “APB simplifies unmanned surface vehicle design and facilitates perception hardware and behavior upgrades on USVs, making USVs more capable and adaptable.”
