Charles River Analytics Inc., developer of intelligent systems solutions, has received additional funding under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA’s) Computational Simulation of Online Social Behavior (SocialSim) program to develop Brain-Based Prediction of Influence Message Effectiveness (BB-PRIME). We partnered with the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication and Next Century (a wholly owned subsidiary of CACI Intl) on the BB-PRIME effort, which builds computational models to help an analyst better understand online social behavior change.
“Neuroimaging can improve an analyst’s ability to predict what messages cause changing behavior in individuals and at scale,” said David Koelle, a Director of Engineering at Charles River Analytics and Principal Investigator on BB-PRIME. “However, current neuroscience results have not established causal relationships between specific types of messages and behavior change. BB-PRIME will deliver insight about causal relationships between message features and behavior change.”
BB-PRIME builds computational models of social influence that quantify the relationship between message features, brain reactions, and behavior; knowing about any one of these variables has predictive value for the others. These computational models of social influence can help analysts in government and private domains better understand changes in behavior.
